Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said he will discuss the road ahead at a meeting of INDIA bloc partners tomorrow and see if they can get majority.
Addressing his first press conference after results of Lok Sabha elections were declared, Kharge said that the party led a positive campaign on issues around inflation, unemployment and farmers and people gave befitting answers to BJP’s rumours around Congress manifesto.
“Till we don’t talk to our alliance partners and the new partners who are going to ally with them, we will talk to them as well and see how we can make majority. If I say all the strategies here, Modiji will become clever,” he said.
The NDA is leading on more than 290 seats but the BJP is short of the majority mark. However, the INDIA bloc’s tally is at 231 seats as the counting of votes is still underway.
Defying exit poll predictions, the INDIA bloc put up a splendid performance in the Hindi belt and the southern states to bring down the NDA’s number under 300.
