Assembly Elections LIVE Updates: Most exit polls on Wednesday predicted victories for the BJP-led alliances in the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, although some suggested a slight advantage for the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition in Maharashtra. Axis MyIndia was the only poll to forecast a win for the Congress-JMM alliance in Jharkhand, predicting 49-59 seats out of 81, compared to just 17-27 seats for the BJP-led NDA and three seats for other parties.
Exit polls were released shortly after the conclusion of voting in Maharashtra and the second phase of voting in Jharkhand, projecting a victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti government in Maharashtra and the NDA in Jharkhand.
In Maharashtra’s 288-member assembly, the majority mark is 145, while in Jharkhand’s 81-member assembly, it is 41. Currently, the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance holds power in Maharashtra, while the JMM-Congress coalition governs Jharkhand. The vote counting will take place on November 23 for Maharashtra’s single-phase election held on Wednesday and the two-phase election in Jharkhand held on November 13 and 20.
