News18 has learnt that the poll body is planning to announce the elections by January 10 and the polling will be held in the first half of February.
The preparations for assembly polls in Delhi are underway in full swing with the publishing of final electoral roll by January 6 and election dates announcement by January 10, News18 has learnt. The final electoral roll, which has been witnessing a lot of politics in the past few weeks, is likely to be published on January 6.
“Review meetings were held last week. The Commission has met police, polling officials and district officials. Everything is going as per the plan. The commission is ready from its end for the elections,” a poll body official told News18, demanding anonymity.
They also said that since the term of the Delhi assembly is ending on February 23, 2025, the commission has time before that to hold the polls. “There is sufficient time before the term is ending,” they said.

In 2020, the date for elections was announced on January 6. The nomination filing process started from January 14 and February 8 was the polling date. Votes were counted on February 11.
It is important to note the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the Electoral Roll with respect to January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date started on October 29. The last date for claims and objections for additions, deletions, or modifications in electoral records was November 28, however, the submission of forms for continuous updating will remain open until elections are announced.
Both BJP and AAP have filed official complaints with the ECI over the electoral roll issue. The poll body last week also met political parties where they were assured that all their issues will be addressed.
The ruling AAP is claiming that mass deletion of voters is taking place in Delhi on the behest of BJP. The BJP, on the other hand, is saying that the AAP is allowing illegal migrants to register as voters.
