Former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has staged an impressive comeback after his decision to break away from the NDA and join the UPA ahead of the 2019 general elections proved costly
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dialled TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, whose party established an early lead as per trends for the Lok Sabha election results. Andhra Pradesh is all set to welcome back the former chief minister, as his party is headed towards forming the government as well while national trends show they are leading on 22 seats.
Andhra Pradesh BJP incharge Siddharth Nath Singh also met and congratulated Naidu on his resounding lead in the elections.
Naidu has staged an impressive comeback after his decision to break away from the NDA and join the UPA ahead of the 2019 general elections proved costly. This time, he did not repeat that mistake. He has single-handedly driven his party as well as the NDA in a leading position in the assembly as well as Lok Sabha polls.
Prime Minister Modi and Shah are in touch with the TDP supremo, who was left politically marginalised by his massive loss in the 2019 elections. If Naidu decides to stay with the NDA, it will be significant for the BJP-led ruling alliance that is leading on 291 seats as of now.
In 2019, the TDP, which was the incumbent party, managed to win only 23 seats while its allies Janasena won only one.
